About Interventional Radiology (IR)

Interventional Radiology (IR) is a specialty in veterinary medicine that utilizes imaging modalities (eg., fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography) to perform minimally invasive procedures for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. IR techniques can be used to treat a myriad of diseases, and these procedures often allow potential treatments in cases that may have previously been thought to be without options.

IR is often combined with endoscopy (tracheoscopy, bronchoscopy, urethroscopy, gastroduodenoscopy) to perform procedures as well. Interventional Endoscopy is regularly performed at UC Davis, and the diagnostic and treatment options are vast.
